The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, last night, met at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, in Abuja, to discuss important issues, as it affects President Muhammadu Buhari’s health. The closed-door meeting, held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, was presided over by the Chairman of the Forum, Abdulaziz Yari, of Zamfara State. The sudden meeting came barely a few hours after Buhari for the third consecutive time, did not show up at the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting, usually held at the Presidential Villa. The tension worsened, when the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, told State House Correspondents, that Buhari would be working from home, because he needed time for more rest. However, sources have posited that the troubled Governors had met with Buhari, to persuade him to resign, due to the persistent nature of his health, or travel back to London, for more medical treatment . “The President is not well. His health condition is getting worse everyday. The Governors met behind closed doors to deliberate on the way forward”, the source said. Among the Governors in attendance, were those of Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Kogi, Borno, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Ondo, Bauchi, Sokoto, Plateau, Niger, Edo, Kebbi States. The Governors of Rivers, Ogun, and Lagos States, were among those represented by their Deputies. Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, stated that it is not compulsory for Buhari to preside over the FEC meeting. He said: “That is why our Constitution makes provision for a Vice President. Mr President is 70 something years old. And it is usual at that age as I have said, to have one medical challenge or the other. “Even I at 57, take medications for one ailment or the other. Our prayer is that the President gets better and well. But the reason why he has the Vice President, is precisely for this reason. It may not be because he has any medical challenge that he didn’t attend the FEC meeting. He may have other pressing matters to attend to
